Why the Wizards Need to Fire Scott Brooks

The Wizards are currently 4-13. That is the worst record in the league. The Wizards have excellent  players such as Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal who are playing fantastic and yet, somehow, the Wizards are still losing. The reason being? Because of Wizards’ head coach Scott Brooks’s game decisions.

For starters, Scott Brooks hasn’t challenged a single call this season although there have been multiple times where he should have, such as during fourth quarter in both Bulls games early this season. Even when the chance for a challenge late in the game, which could change the pace of the game, he still won’t challenge a single call. The only reason I can guess as to why is that he doesn’t want to lose a timeout because if you lose the challenge, then you also lose the timeout. Also, Brooks is forcing Westbrook to play in games he shouldn’t because of his quad injury, and Brooks is burning out Beal because he is making him play the entire first three quarters of a game.

Lastly, Brooks takes way too long to sub in players in the fourth quarter, which could make an important difference in the end of the game. When the fourth quarter starts and the team is behind by just a few points, Brooks waits too long to sub in new players, which tires out the players on the court, and that then leads to the other team getting a run and ultimately winning the game. So, in my opinion, not just because I am a huge Wizards’ fan, the Wizards should fire Brooks because he is too scared to take chances and he burns out his players, essentially offering the opposing team the win. Not what a team needs in a coach.
