The Wizards have started off the 2021-2022 season exceptionally well. The team looks organized and much more aggressive on both ends of the court than in the past. Their current record is sitting at 8-3.
The main reason for their success? It’s hard not to look at Wizards’ new Head Coach Wes Unseld, Jr. He has been excellent so far, setting up the defense well and not being afraid to challenge calls.
Additionally, the crew of new players to the Wizards team seems to be making a significant impact. Kyle Kuzma, as a 3-point shooter, is filling a spot the Wizards sorely needed. Spencer Dinwiddie has been a solid point guard, Deni Avdija has improved his defense by a lot, and Montrezl Harrell has been tough on the offensive glass. Adding these new players to the Wizards’ roster looks to be boosting the play of the regulars. Raul Neto has been much more effective on both ends of the court this year than in the past. Daniel Gafford has been great offensively and defensively because he uses the rim well to block and dunk. And Bradley Beal, smart and powerful as always, has been using his teammates during plays more than in the past. The Wizards are currently in first place in the Eastern Conference. If they continue to play well throughout this season, they could be a serious threat in the Playoffs to any opposing team. It will be interesting to see if they can keep the momentum going.
