The blockbuster trades keep on coming! Davante Adams has officially been traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he will be reunited with his college quarterback, Derek Carr. With his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers threatening to leave the Green Bay Packers, maybe Adams has just had enough.
Rodgers seemed to focus on making as much money as possible, which is fair to know your value, and Adams seemed to be following that path, wanting a better contract with a different team. And why not be on the team that has your former college quarterback on it, right? However, soon after the trade happened, it was revealed that Adams actually declined a higher contract from the Packers and went to the Raiders for less money. So, clearly Adams wasn’t in it for just the money.
Talent-wise, the Raiders have skyrocketed by adding Adams to their offense. For starters, they have Derek Carr as their quarterback, who has been stellar his entire career; Josh Jacobs as their running back, who is coming off a great season, a top 5 tight end in Darren Waller, who has been fantastic for the Raiders, and Braylon Edwards to top it off, who had an impressive previous season as well.
With all of these weapons in their arsenal, the Raiders have become a serious threat in the AFC, saying a lot considering the AFC West has such talented rosters. How this will affect the power-play balance will be interesting to watch.
